The Interview with Todd Anthony Tyler

November 22, 2016

One of the judges and a resident photographer from the Asia's Next Top Model Season 1 and Fit For Fashion.

From my previous blog post entitled Beginning featuring Todd Anthony Tyler, I shared to you about the photos I forwarded and our conversation. I am really thankful from his response and the little tips he gave as well. I did not know that he will be putting much effort in responding those messages despite in his busy schedule. I cannot just say "Thank You" to him always. In return, I am creating this blog post as my little way of appreciation.

I told him about this blog post as my little way of appreciation and he agreed to be featured on my blog. So I prepared a few questions for him to answer and for you to know him better. Maybe you are also wondering why I made him as my inspiration of photography so I also asked permission to give me photos that he took and/or grabbing his photos, but he...

Yes! He sent me some pictures for me to use and it was sent through email. I was specifically asking 5 and told him that 5 photos will do. Two photos of himself and three photos that he took. The genuine and generous Todd Anthony Tyler provided me photos to choose and his PORTFOLIO! OMG! I couldn't ask for more! So me and Gee got to access his portfolio first and really amazed of his work! No worries, I am going to let you see his fascinating photographs, from his portfolio of course! But first, see the screen shots below about the questions and his answers sent through email:

I was really nervous of throwing the questions to him and the construction of the sentences were not formal. Sorry!

Here is the clearer version from the written interview:

1. Who is Todd Anthony Tyler?
Answer: A guy with a camera - sometimes you see him on TV too.
2. When did you start learning photography?
Answer: photography has always been a life long interest for me - I started taking photos from a young age - about 15 years ago when I moved into photography professionally I self taught myself more intently all off the technical aspects of photography.
3. Who or what inspires you doing photography?
Answer: my inspiration comes from an internal drive to create. I think of myself as an artist at my core and photography as my medium. I do find inspiration and ideas sparked through art, dance and the every day actions of people. I also become inspired by nature itself.
4. What tips can you suggest to aspiring photographers?
Answer: in the end if you wish to make a living from photography then you are starting a business when you become a professional photographer. You need to be a good photographer in the first place to be able to have anyone wanting to pay you for your photography but after having higher than average ability to take good photos the success really comes in work ethic and connecting with people along with marketing and managing your business of photography.
5. What is the best thing of being a photographer?
Answer: The wide variety of people you meet and the body of work that you are able to create. When I look back on my images that I have taken, I find a deep sense of satisfaction in my work. Also your photos let you share your word and vision with others. When you have a great response to your photos it is a real highlight of being a photographer.
6. What are your shows where they can watch you, see how you work?
Answer: I think the most people know me from Asia's Next Top Model but the show I am on now that I really enjoy is Fit for Fashion. We will going into a season 3 soon!

Apparently, those were the reason why I made him my inspiration of photography. He has the drive and full of inspiration to make his work the best! I really enjoyed talking with Mr. TAT.

*Disclamer: I did not take those photos and I did not own those photos. Those photos of his were given to me. Words are all mine and photos were agreed with Mr. Todd Anthony Tyler.

  4. Good thing it was already typed out because I can't see super small letters, huhu thank you! I find this super inspiring. I see we have the same inspiration for taking photos which is the inner drive to create. I'm a "frustrated" artist. Maybe in a nice & crazy sense of way. I also like that he's inspired by everyday actions of people because I too get inspired with that. Thanks for sharing this interview.
